I wrote and recorded this in about half an hour while watching the sun set on the Potomac River. It was windy, and my phone died at the very end. Maybe it sounds like it only took 20 minutes, but it took a full 30. I thought of Tom Petty while I wrote, and while I sang. That should be pretty obvious if you give it a listen. I’m OK with that. It felt good to imagine myself singing it with him. So, that’s what I did. Here’s a windy demo of song that I quickly wrote, on a beautiful evening, while imagining myself singing with Tom Petty. I can hear The Heartbreakers on it. I can hear the Skyline. This wouldn’t have been written without Tom, just like so many other attempts at sweetly getting to the point.

Still air
Still there
Still here

The falling sun
Still there
Still here

How long do we get to stay?
How long do we get to stay?
Still here

Still scared
Still there
Still fear

The falling sun
Still there
Still here

How long will my love stay?
How long will my love stay?
Still here
